Obituary Announcement

Stewart; Donna

Donna Marie Stewart (Forbes) passed away peacefully in St. Joseph's Hospice at the age of 62, on Sunday, June 26th 2016, with her family at her side. Donna will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 39 years, Frank Stewart, her daughters, Larissa (Jeremy) Large & Calla (Owen) Nicol, her mother Freida Forbes, her mother in law Marjorie Stewart, sister Pat (Brad) Latner and brother Jim (Maureen) Forbes.  Donna was the cherished Nana to 5 grandchildren, Graydon, Corbin, Arabel, Huntly & Bryson, a loving aunt to her nieces and nephews and will be greatly missed by her many lifelong friends. Predeceased by her father John Forbes. As a lifelong resident of Sarnia, Donna was passionate about the city, her neighbourhood and the community.   She loved summers in her backyard and at the cottage, and spent many winters in the arena helping with Sarnia Girls Hockey.  Donna was a longstanding Sarnia Organ Donor Awareness Group board member and one of the founders of Jazz & Blues in the Village.  For the last 13 years, she served as festival director, organizing an army of loyal volunteers and managing countless festival details.  Donna worked in the office of St. Lukes United Church for over 20 years and was the helping hand behind her husband’s Mitton Village store, The Eye Guy. The family want to express their thanks to the doctors and nurses at the London Regional Cancer Centre and St. Joseph’s Hospice for their compassionate care of Donna. Cremation & private family service has taken place. The family wishes to invite friends to a Celebration of Donna's Life on Saturday July 9th from 1 - 4 at the Sarnia Legion. Our sincere condolences on the passing of Your Wife, Mother, and Grandmother. Donna was very much loved through life and admired by many. We had a lot of good times as we were growing up at Johnston Memorial School and then after at SCITS. It was always good to see Donna and Frank when we would go to their neighbour Julie & Rob's and talk in the driveway as they or we were coming or going. Again our heartfelt condolences to Frank and the Family.

I was so very sad to hear about Rita. She was so gregarious and full of life. I met Rita when I was working at Sears Optical. I just loved her joy and enthusiasm with everything that came her way. When we spoke, i found out that she actually knew my parents Ted and Wilma Blondin. We had quite a funny store to share re my dad from years ago. Know that she was loved! It was my mom who called me to tell me of Ritas passing. She also loved Rita.. Whenever I see the colour of purple, I will always remember her..

Kindest regards Kathy Scott

Frank and Family - I was so sorry to read the passing of donna.  I have known both of you for many years.  Over the past couple of years I had the pleasure of volunteering for Donna at the Jazz festival in the beer and wine booths.  Her infectious laugh and gentle mannerism, I will remember always.  I am unable to attend her celebration of life as I will be out of town, but on that day I will be thinking of her.  My heart goes out to you and your family.
