Obituary Announcement

SINKINS, Margaret “Marnie” Louise (n. Lucas)

Surrounded by her loving “Support Staff”- her children, Marnie Sinkins of Brights Grove On., passed away on Monday July 15, 2019 at London Health Sciences Centre at the age of 93. She will be deeply missed by her beloved children Shona, James, Morag, and Mary and her husband Cliff, and her 4-legged family members Gunnar and Bernadette. Marnie was pre-deceased by her beloved husband of 62 years Dr. James Sinkins (2010), her parents Gordon and Margaret Lucas and her sister Betty Sloane and her husband William. Marnie was born October 16, 1925 in Edmonton, Alberta, with her family returning to Ontario shortly after and settling in Corunna where she spent her younger years making lifelong friends and enjoying the St. Clair River. Marnie was an extremely kind and caring individual her entire life, with a huge heart and a great sense of humour. She quietly with no fan fare or desire for recognition helped many in need. She was totally devoted to her husband and family. A graduate of St Joseph’s Hospital School of Nursing, she nursed in London On. and Scotland and was the first office nurse in her husband’s practise, before devoting her time to her family. Marnie loved her summers in Tobermory and all her local friends. She was a member of St John in the Wilderness Anglican Church for many years. Special thanks to Dr. Michael O’Mahony for his many years of care, and also to the wonderful nursing staff at the LHSC Critical Care – Trauma Centre. Friends will be received at the McCormack Funeral Home - Stewart Chapel, 254 George Street, (at College Avenue), for visitation on Thursday July 18 from 7-9 pm. A Funeral Service will take place at McCormack Funeral Home – Stewart Chapel on Friday July 19 at 1 pm., visitation to begin one hour prior to service. Interment will follow at Lakeview Cemetery. Remembrances and condolences may be expressed to the family online in “Marnie’s Guestbook” at mccormackfuneralhomesarnia.com. Sympathy may be expressed through donations to the Sarnia Humane Society, Heart & Stroke Foundation, Canadian Cancer Society or Bluewater Health.
