Obituary Announcement

Horodyski, Marcella (Marcy) Eileen – Nee Stillar

With deep gratitude for her life, it breaks our hearts the Angels came for Mom. Marcella Eileen Stillar Horodyski passed away peacefully on Sunday August 18th, 2019, after 90 beautiful years. Marcella was born on January 22, 1929 in Trout Creek, Ontario on her grandparent’s farm, Eva and James Lynett.  Grandparents she absolutely adored and loved. Her family lived in several South Western Ontario towns before deciding to move to Kirkland Lake, Ontario in 1937.  Her beloved Kirkland Lake would remain in her heart always, even after she moved to Sarnia. Mom was such a loving and very proud Mother to her two cherished daughters Brenda Trainor and her husband Danny, and Beverley Horodyski, dear sister to Madelyn Stillar, loving Grammie to Taylor Schurman and her Fiancée Jace Clements of Vegreville, Alberta.  She was a very devoted and loving Auntie Marce to her sister Kay’s six Lindsay children; Ted (Linda), Timothy, Kirk, (these two had a special bond, like a son she never had) (Pam), Michelle, Jaimie, and Paul, and several great nieces and nephews and close family friend’s. Mom will be reunited with her loved ones in heaven again. She is predeceased by her parents; Evelyn Lynett Stillar (1978) and Gordon Stillar (1982).  Her beloved sister Kathleen (Kay) Lindsay (1963) and brother in law William (Bill) Lindsay (1984).  Bradley Horodyski, (2007) father to their dear daughters, and her faithful companion and dearest pet, Buddy Stillar (2015). Family was at the heart of everything Mom did, and she was our rock. As a Mother, she gave us undying love, devotion and dedication growing up. The role of being Mother was the most important and rewarding to her. Mom was our teacher, counsellor, confidante, travelling companion, the boss, and our trusted best friend. Marcy retired after 20 years of dedicated service to the Sarnia Township Office and to the City of Sarnia Building Department, a position she held with pride. We wish to thank the Trillium Villa Nursing Home staff in all departments for their care, compassion, friendship and most importantly their humour during Mom’s stay. Special thanks to the nursing staff, especially Beth, Crystal, and Lauren, and the wonderful PSW’s at Front Street wing.  Mom and our family are blessed to have made so many friends at Trillium Villa. One of Mom’s favourite activities was Friday afternoon Pub which featured live music and a great glass of aged wine, two of Mom’s favourite things in life to enjoy. Friends will be received at the McCormack Funeral Home – Stewart Chapel, 254 George Street (at College Avenue) Sarnia on Wednesday August 21st from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. Prayers will be offered at 3 pm.  Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Father Brian Jane at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church (293 Stuart St., Sarnia) on Thursday August 22nd at 11 am. Interment will follow at Our Lady of Mercy Cemetery. Remembrances and condolences may be expressed to the family online in “Marcella’s Guestbook” at mccormackfuneralhomesarnia.com. As an expression of sympathy, friends who wish may send memorial donations to the St. Vincent de Paul Society (Food Bank) 228 Davis Street, Sarnia, N7T 1B3 or Sarnia District Humane Society, 131 Exmouth Street, Sarnia N7T 7W8.

Bev, Brenda, Danny and family. My heart feels for you today. Take comfort in the wonderful times you had with your mom. She certainly enjoyed her life. Phil and I are so very sorry for your loss, Bev and Brenda. Your mom was a force of nature: smart, feisty and fun. Always up for a spirited discussion about politics and the news. Always ready to talk about her adored daughters. I feel so blessed to have known her, to have been able to spend time with her, to share in her reminisces about Elliot Lake. Know that you are in our hearts and in our thoughts at this time.
