Obituary Announcement

Jones, Donald  Lawrence “Larry”

Donald Lawrence “Larry” Jones, age 78, very peacefully passed away on December 25, 2018 at Bluewater Health, with his loving family by his side. He was a truly strong-willed (some may even say “stubborn”) man who went home to spend eternity with his wife of 47 years, Shirley Mae (Walker). Larry was a hardworking and loyal father, grandfather, uncle, brother, and friend. Father of Shelley Keith of London, ON and Shawnie & Stephen MacLeod of Inverness, NS. Devoted grandfather of Dustin and Alex of Ontario and Holli, Connor and Breagh of Nova Scotia. Brother of Edith, Jerry, Marilyn and Christine. Best friend to his beloved shih tzu, Buddy. Predeceased by brothers Earl and Jim, and his parents Kenneth and Eleanor (Broadfoot). Larry was a retired longtime truck driver for Roder Turkey Farms. He enjoyed a quiet life with Shirley in Arkona for many years and spent every day by her side during her battle with cancer until her passing in 2012. He was well known and loved by his Felix Street neighbours, as well as many other community members in both Sarnia and Arkona. He enjoyed long walks with Buddy, visits with family & friends, dinners of liver & onions, and snacking on butterscotch pudding while watching the NHL playoffs. His tenacity, determination, independence and unwavering loyalty are rare in this world, and he will be dearly missed. A huge thank you is extended to everyone who offered their support in his last years, especially his brother Jerry, the nurses at Victoria Hospital in London, his doctors in Petrolia and Sarnia, and the wonderful Palliative Care team at Bluewater Health. Remembrances and condolences may be expressed to the family online in “Larry’s Guestbook” at mccormackfuneralhomesarnia.com. Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held at Wyoming Cemetery at a later date in January.

My deepest condolences for the family. I have many, many fond memories of Larry. He will always have a special place in my heart. He didn't give up without a great fight. Now he's at peace & with Shirley.

Shelley and Shawnee. I am so sorry for the loss of your father. He loved his family so much and never missed a chance to talk about you both. He was a good husband, father, grandfather and a good brother-in-law as well. May the Lord be with you at this time. Aunt Judi

My deepest sympathies to everyone in the family. He was a dear man, and I will always remember him and love him for the kindness he bestowed upon my dad (his brother Earl), in his last months. May he rest in peace with Aunt Shirley.
