Obituary Announcement

Chalmers, Carl Lee

Carl Lee Chalmers, age 68, passed away peacefully on Monday December 30, 2019 at Bluewater Health in Sarnia. Carl was the son of Charles Lewis and Mollie Joan Chalmers. He leaves behind his two brothers, Gary (Sue) and Michael (Sharon) Chalmers. He says, “Thank You” to his cousins, nephews, nieces and friends that visited him during his many stays in the hospital. He fought a strong fight against Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis receiving a new lung on January 1, 2016. Miraculously he survived that operation to then have kidney failure. Carl was a proud mailman, dedicated to making sure those on his routes received their mail intact and on time. He fondly remembered the many people on his routes. Carl loved animals and enjoyed seeing the smiles on people’s faces as his dogs and he did pet therapy at the hospital and in nursing homes. Carl was a world traveller. He visited many countries by bus, rail, ship and plane. He loved watching planes taking off and landing at airports. Carl was a kind and giving person who learned that “life is not about waiting for the storm to pass… it’s about learning how to dance in the rain.” Cremation has taken place. In keeping with Carl’s wishes no visitation or service will be held. Remembrances and condolences may be expressed to the family online in “Carl’s Guestbook” at mccormackfuneralhomesarnia.com. In lieu of flowers or donations to a charity, Carl requests that we do something encouraging to a living person experiencing a storm in their life.

Big hugs to the whole Chalmers family. Carl was a very sweet, kind man. He was very kindhearted to take our Brady and turn him into a gentle dog to take into the hospitals and nursing homes. Carl you will be missed by many.

Dear family, It was my honor to have a friendship with Carl for 5 years. We enjoyed having coffee together, talking about Carl,s life, and his health challenges and I always was inspired by his courage in dealing with his serious health issues. I will remember him as a dear friend and want to extend to you my deepest sympathy. He was an inspiration to many people and faced his health issues without complaining. He always thought about other people and wished them well. I will miss you, buddy. Jim & Kaaren Damsma.
