Obituary

Zimmer, Richard “Richie” Joseph.

Richard Joseph Zimmer, 72 years of age, passed on Wednesday, January 3rd, 2024, at Bluewater Health in Sarnia after a brief and arduous fight with cancer. Richie was born May 9, 1951, in Colorado Springs, Colorado to the late Vicky and Donald Zimmer. He was the oldest of five children. Richie was educated at Ferndale High School in Michigan. Richie is survived by his wife Jill, his 6 daughters, Babette, Monique, Shamine, Jenny, Vicki, and Megan, 12 grandchildren, Braedan, Presten, Showlin, Clay, Lara, Addi, Kirk, Lance, Neil, Chantel, Andrea and Samantha, and 4 great grandchildren, Ayda, Henry, Allora, and Emmett, as well as his siblings, Greg, Debbie, Kathy, and Jeff. Richie was a master of many trades over his lifetime. He loved to visit and host his family and friends. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He was a die hard Detroit Red Wings Fan and had developed great skill in smoking meats for those closest to him for any occasion. He was quick to pitch in on a move or project if anyone asked him for help. He had the biggest heart and all those who knew him were truly blessed. Remembrances and condolences may be expressed to the family online in “Richie’s Guestbook” at mccormackfuneralhomesarnia.com. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Canadian Cancer Society are being requested in Richie’s name by his family. A private celebration of life will be planned for a later date."
