Obituary
SUNAITIS, GEORGE EGIL
The family of George Sunaitis is sad to announce his passing on April 20, 2023, at the age of 72 years. He is predeceased by his parents, Zan and Irma. He is survived by his sister, Elma and brother-in-law John Charalambous; niece Alexia (Matt); great nephew and niece Oliver and Rosie; all of London, England. George was born to Zan and Irma in Sarnia on July 31, 1950. His family had immigrated from Latvia and raised George and Elma in Corunna, Ontario. George was a proud member of U.A. Local 663, Plumbers and Pipefitters Union. He loved the outdoors, gardening, and the St. Clair River. George enjoyed visits with family, both ‘in person’ and virtual; known as GUG (Great Uncle George) to Oliver and Rosie. George spearheaded, designed and constructed (with friends), a legacy project - the Railroad replica station at Cathcart St. and Howard Watson Trail. This scenic trail and area is enjoyed by many. Due to difficult health concerns for the last year’s, George was very appreciative of the help and support from friends Bev, Leslie and Jane. A graveside service will be held at a future date. Cremation has taken place. Remembrances and condolences may be expressed to the family online in “George’s Guestbook” at mccormackfuneralhomesarnia.com. Sympathy may be expressed through donations to St. Joseph’s Hospice. Arrangements by McCormack Funeral Home.
