It is with profound sadness that the family of Ilona “Helen” Nemeth announce her peaceful passing at Bluewater Health, in Sarnia, on Sunday May 4, 2025, at the age of 87. She will be forever loved, remembered, and missed by her children Dana Emery (the late James “Mike” Anger), Marian Glover (Jim), and Frank, her granddaughters Courtney Parizeau (Marc), Lyndsay MacNeill (Craig), and her great grandchildren Sawyer, Lochlan, August, and Roarke. She leaves behind her beloved cat Benji as well as her dear neighbor and friend Mark. Helen is predeceased by her parents Albert (1940) and Anna (2003) Meri, her siblings Ernesto, Isabel, Anna and Mareka. Ilona was born on February 9, 1938, in Czechoslovakia, but grew up in Hungary from the age of 2. In 1956 at 18 years old she fled to Austria to escape the revolution. Canada welcomed her and she was determined to learn the English language and gain employment and was proud to become a citizen. She had many talents and interests and excelled in the kitchen and the garden. She loved fashion, decorating, art, dancing, and conversations with everyone. Her bright genuine smile conveyed the kind, generous and fun spirit she was to all who met her. The family sincerely want to thank Dr. Kim and all the staff of Bluewater Health who provided care, compassion, humour, and friendship to Helen. Cremation has taken place. As per Helen's wishes, there will be no public service. Remembrances and condolences may be expressed to the family online in “Helen's Guest book” at mccormackfuneralhomesarnia.com. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Sarnia Humane Society.

Condolences
Dear Courtney & Family!
Though we never had the privilege of meeting your grandma in person, the vibrant stories you've shared painted such a vivid picture of her. We feel like we knew her through you, and that's why the news of her passing has touched us so deeply. Our hearts ache with yours during this difficult time.
Love
Wilma, Willi and Collin
