Obituary
McKeown, Jean Elizabeth
On Sunday March 12, 2023, at her residence, at the age of 97. Jean was the beloved wife of the late Thomas Douglas “Irish” (1977). Loving mother of Joan McKeown, and mother-in-law of Sheila McKeown. Survived by her adopted furry family, Nicky, Molly, Simba, Herme’s and Lola, the loves of her life that gave her so much joy. Also survived by her sisters Isla Goulding (Tommy), Helen Round (Ted), and several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her son Roy (2015), daughter Jackie (2020) and sister Joyce McCracken (1989). Jean was the kindest, most caring person who loved people. A kind and gentle soul. She liked nothing better than to spend time with family and friend’s sharing a glass of wine and much laughter. She absolutely loved spending hours in her garden each day. Working in her garden daily for hours and growing plant’s and sharing them with her friend’s gave her the utmost joy. In the winter her head was always in plant seed magazines. She had the ultimate green thumb, and her knowledge of plants and gardening was unmatched. Local Nurseries and mail order Plant and Seed Companies know her by her first name. Cremation has taken place and a Celebration of Jean’s Life will take place at her home at a later date. Remembrances and condolences may be expressed to the family online in “Jean’s Guestbook” at mccormackfuneralhomesarnia.com. Donations in lieu of flowers can be made to her favorite charity, Cat Chance Rescue, thru Leeanne Symington catchancetransfers@gmail.com and the Sarnia Humane Society. Arrangements entrusted to McCormack Funeral Home.

Condolences
My mom was my hero, the person I looked up to most in the world. She was the kind of person I adpired to be, but was not. She was the nicest person I ever met, the kindest and the most forgiving. For a person who grew up abused in multiple foster homes, she turned out to be the most forgiving, fair person ever. She did not have a mean bone in her body, never spoke badly or unkindly of anyone. Her presence made the world a better place. For someone who grew up with no real role model she was the best Mom in the world. I miss her deeply!
