Obituary

Harvey, Loretta Sarah

It is with great sadness that the family of Loretta Sarah Harvey announce her peaceful passing, with her family by her side, on Wednesday June 21, 2023, at St Joseph’s Hospice in Sarnia. Loretta was the loving mother of Michelle Jarvis (Ralph), Elise Buckeridge (Ron), Adrianne Vaillant (Andy Pickle). Cherished grandmother of Jason, Renee, Danny (Sarah), Carson Lee (Brandy), Ben (Sarah), Kyle (Erin), Kurtis (Sarah), and Aaron (LeeAnne). Treasured great grandmother of Hayden, Harper, Kayden, Brooke, Kara and Lucas. She is survived by her brothers-in-law David Archer and Bob Sivell, and many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her parents John and Margaret Harvey, brothers James, Edgar (Marie), and Frederick (Phyllis), and her sisters Mildred Archer and Jeanie Sivell, and her infant grandson Jackson. Mom was a resilient, strong, independent, and noble woman of unwavering faith. At the age of 18 mom was hired at St Joseph’s Hospital as a nurse’s aide. Then at the age of 25, she became a porter in the physiotherapy department. Due to mom’s attention to detail and hard work she was promoted to secretary in the physiotherapy department for 35 years. Her greatest accomplishment had to be single-handedly raising 3 daughters to which she credited the power of prayer. Mom had so many talents and she so generously shared by knitting hats for newborns, scarves and mittens for the homeless, and sewing clothes for Rajon to give to the children in Haiti. She also shared her love of crafts with her grandchildren who painted many a rock. The family wishes to thank the Care Partners and the PSW’s who helped mom stay in her home that she loved, Bluewater Health ER, Med G, Palliative Care, and St Joseph’s Hospice for their exceptional care of mom. We would like to thank Dr Cassandra, Dr Taylor, Dr Al-Zubaidi, and Dr Kim for helping mom on her journey. And finally, thanks to her many friends and family for their love and support during this difficult time. Family and friends will be received at the McCormack Funeral Home, 254 George Street (at College Avenue) for visitation on Monday June 26 from Noon to 1 pm. A funeral service will follow at 1 pm. Interment will take place at Lakeview Cemetery. Remembrances and condolences may be expressed to the family online in “Loretta’s Guestbook” at mccormackfuneralhomesarnia.com. In lieu of flowers, the family ask for donations to St Joseph’s Hospice. Mom’s favorite scripture was John 3:16, and her hymn How Great that Art.
Until we meet again mom, Cheerio!

Condolences

Your mom was such a lovely lady. I only worked with her for a short period of time at St. Joseph's PT dept, but she was as you know, a person you would remember with fondness. She was so kind and helpful to me. Thank you for sharing her picture, as her gentle smile never changed. With deepest sympathy on the loss of your precious mom.

Our condolences to the family. Loretta was a wonderful, caring co-worker and friend. She was always so proud of her daughters and grandchildren. I always admired how multi talented she was…she seemed to tackle any challenges both at work and at home in her very quiet way. You are in our thoughts and prayers🙏
