On Sunday February 22, 2026, peacefully with her family by her side, after a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease. It is with a heavy heart we announce the passing of our dear and loving Mother, Joan Beverly English, (nee Payne) of Marshall Gowland Manor, Long Term Care Home, Sarnia. Predeceased by her loving and devoted Husband, Clifford English of 62 years. A devoted and loving Mother she is survived by her children Chris and Laurie and her grandchildren who she deeply cherished. Derek, Heather, Brian, Daniel, Sarah and Kelsey, who will forever remember her warmth, wisdom and unconditional love. She was also a proud and loving great grandmother to Hannah, Everson, Jaxson, Lilyan, River, Carter, Parker, and Nova Joan loved spending time with all her grandchildren, and great grandchildren and was an exceptional cook, an avid reader, enjoyed music, shopping, watching hockey and had a special gift hosting her many pool parties making everyone feel welcome. Christmas was always a special time and she loved reminiscing family stories. But nothing brought her greater joy than her family and all of her many fur-babies, especially her Rotties. A special thank you to the amazing staff at Marshall Gowland Manor Long Term-Care Home, Sarnia. Joan is predeceased by her father and mother William Payne and Mary Payne (nee Harris) and brothers Roy Payne, Ross Payne, Floyd Payne, John Payne, Peggy Slack (nee Payne), Jean Badell and Wally Robson. She is survived by many nieces and nephews. A service to celebrate Joan’s life will be held at a later date.
