Obituary

Charlene Mary Adams

Peacefully, surrounded by loving family on Monday, April 22, 2024, at St. Joseph’s Hospice Sarnia-Lambton, Charlene Mary Adams passed away at the age of 67. Charlene was born in Goderich, Ontario on May 1, 1956, to the late Harold Adams and Isabel Adams (nee Errington). Survived by her loving friend and companion Douglas Winch, her daughter Jackie (Paul) Yovicic, and stepsons Scott Winch and Blair (Megan) Winch. She adored Blair & Megan’s children Carley and Emery Winch. Dear sister of George (Donna) Adams, Paul Adams & Susan Brindley, Lois (Bob) Sinclair. Loving aunt to Steven (Janet), David, and Peter Adams, Jessica (Kyle) Whitely, Sarah (Ryan) Hall, Becky Adams & Andrew Lawlor, Laura (Brett) Fischer, and Brian (Laura) Sinclair; and several great nieces and nephews. Charlene was a tireless worker who became familiar with the value of hard work at a young age. Early in life, she was a member of the 4H club, working on the family farm, driving a tractor, bailing hay, gathering eggs, and milking cows. In 1972 she attended Marvel Beauty School in London, Ontario where she fulfilled her dream of becoming a hairdresser. She worked in Goderich for several years then moved to Sarnia in 1987 where she opened her beauty salon, The Hair Loft, which remained in business for 26 years. Charlene retired in 2017 after 45 years of hairdressing. In retirement, she enjoyed baking, knitting, crocheting, gardening, and traveling to Hawaii, the Canadian Rockies, and the Maritimes. She was a long-time member of St. John in the Wilderness church where she volunteered for the Anglican Church Women. She donated many knitted baby hats and blankets to the nursery at Bluewater Health and other knitted items to local churches for people in need. Charlene enjoyed spending time with family and friends. She had a positive outlook on life and loved a good laugh. Her patience and understanding will be sadly missed by all. Family and friends will be received at St. John in the Wilderness Anglican Church, 2896 Old Lakeshore Rd, Brights Grove, Ontario on April 29, 2024, from 12:00 to 1:30 pm with the funeral service to follow at 1:30 pm. Cremation has already taken place. Remembrances and condolences may be expressed to the family online in “Charlene’s Guestbook” at mccormackfuneralhomesarnia.com. Sympathy may be expressed through donations to St. John in the Wilderness Church, Anglican Church Women, St. Joseph’s Hospice, Canadian Cancer Society, or planting a tree in memory of Charlene.

Sending love and hugs to the Adams family. I remember Charlene as a very young girl and teaching piano lessons. I love the picture that you have chosen. This is exactly how I remembered her. Rest in peace Charlene - you fought a tough battle against cancer, and have earned your rest now.
