Obituary

Shymko, Norma Eileen (n. Hooper)

On Tuesday, May 20, 2025, at the age of 91, Norma peacefully slipped into eternal rest, to be reunited with her husband, Henry. Above all else, Norma loved her family. Nothing brought her more pride than watching her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren grow and flourish. Hearing of their accomplishments - a game winning goal or run, outstanding performances, awards, learning first words, getting engaged, married or having children - would often be met with a “hot damn!” but if you looked closely, you’d see the tears of joy and pride in her eyes. Norma is survived by her sister, Shirley(Francis) Cadotte; her children: Cathy (Steve) Nesbitt, Doug (Lori) Shymko, Rick (Sue) Shymko and Linda (Oscar) McCabe; her grandchildren: Melissa (Len), Natasha (Mike), Paul, Steven (Meghann), Skylar, Kaylen (Jess), and Krystle (Matt); and her most precious great-grandchildren: Alexa, Eric, Emerson, Leah, Finleigh, Charlotte, Jaxson, Jack, and Aurora. She built this family and showed us what unconditional love feels like, and while after 91 years she owed us nothing, we would have kept her forever if we could. At Norma’s request there will be no visitation or funeral. Remembrances and condolences can be expressed to the family online in "Norma’s Guestbook" at mccormackfuneralhomesarnia.com. Donations can be made to the St. Joseph's Hospice in Norma and Henry’s name. The family would like to offer a special thank you to Dr. Crozier, nurse Greg and the staff at Marshall Gowland Manor for their care and support. Norma was greeted in the halls of MGM with either a “hello, Sweet Norma” or a “here comes trouble” which tells us that you knew her as well as we did. It’s been said over the years that Norma only gave her curly hair to her boys- but she gave her sass to her girls. We’ll take it from here.
