Obituary

Sivell, Jeffrey Adam (1950-2023)

Jeff died suddenly on October 9th, 2023, of natural causes, while visiting his daughter (Zena) and her spouse (Parvin) in Toronto. They spent a wonderful Thanksgiving weekend together, gallivanting around the city that he once lived in and enjoyed returning to. Jeff was predeceased by his parents Robert and Hilda Sivell. He is survived by his siblings, Robert (Jean, deceased), Peter (Crystal), Adrian, Mary Margaret (Michael) Hasler, and Eric (Susan). Jeff was the devoted father of Zena Sivell and looked on Parvin as a son. He was a wonderful and generous uncle to his nieces and nephews. His imagination and adventurous spirit lead to many memorable escapades both at the cottage and at grandma Hilda’s. Jeff was a great traveller. He and his motorcycle covered many miles. One memorable trip was with his brother Adrian to the East Coast. His overseas travel included many visits to the UK, and trips with his daughter to Spain, Turkey and Georgia. His passions were many. He owned countless motorcycles over the years, his favourite being his red Laverda. He competed in motocross, enduro and ice racing. Attending auctions with his aunt Doreen and aunt Mary in his youth exposed him to the world of furniture and design and it became a lifelong pursuit. His knowledge was extensive. A clever, creative and resourceful person, he could make and fix just about anything. In his retirement, he traded in his motorcycle for a bicycle and spent summers swimming at Canatara. His love of gardening grew as he aged. He loved nothing more than sitting in his garden on a sunny day. He was loved and he will be missed. Family and friends will be received at the McCormack Funeral Home, 254 George Street (at College Avenue) for visitation on Tuesday October 17 from 12 – 2 pm. Interment will follow at Lakeview Cemetery. Remembrances and condolences may be expressed to the family online in “Jeff’s Guestbook” at mccormackfuneralhomesarnia.com.

Condolences

Just learned of this unexpected, painful loss yesterday. A beautiful, healthy soul off on his next adventure paving the way for us to follow. Condolences to his loving family.

Such sad news to hear of Jeff's passing so suddenly . Growing up as childhood friends with him and the Sivell family brings back more memories than I could ever cover here . Our childhood was as good as it gets unburdened with today's distractions like cell phones , computers and very limited TV . We played sports , marbles and even war games out behind Parkview School . The Sivell house was a gathering place and became noisier as we graduated to motorcycles . Jeff was glued to a motorcycle and was an excellent rider and enjoyed all forms including ice racing for years at the Sarnia Bay . He used to ride up and down the overpass at the end of Ontario by Fenwicks Auto with Jim Fenwick . He was strong willed with little fear . I smiled when reading about the red Laverda . I had one and he loved it and bought one . He made sure he got mine when I sold it so he could have spare parts . Jeff was also in our wedding party (1976) . I was so pleased to read all that he had done over the years and we know how much Zena meant to him . Our hearts and prayers are with her and all the family at this time . Harold (Junior) Buchner
