It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, sister, cousin and dear friend, who after a courageous battle with lung cancer slipped into the spirit realm at home surrounded by love and warmth. She is survived by her sister Denise & Steve Wright, her children, Stacy Rogers (Jay Sandford), Christine Robertson (Rogers), Korie & Stephanie Rogers, also her sweet grandchildren, Jakson & Elli Fisher, Christian Rogers, Chase & Rees Rogers, who will carry her memory forward with love and gratitude. She was predeceased in death by her parents Myrtle (Mary) Rogers and John Thompson, and her siblings: Terry Rogers, Johnny Rogers and Debbie Rogers whom she now joins in the spirit world. Born with a spark that could light up any room, she was the life of the party-fun loving, quick-witted, and never one to hold back her raw, no-filter humor. Whether she was gaming late into the night, knitting, reorganizing her home with an artist's eye, or attending her vibrant garden with that famed green-thumb, her spirited energy was contagious. She was fiercely hardworking and organized, yet she always found time to treat those around her with little gifts-earning her the affectionate title of “tiny two buck”. A true social butterfly and neighborhood watchdog, she forged friendships wherever she went and looked great doing it. She wasn't afraid to call you out when you needed it. She loved fiercely and lived fully, embracing life's tumultuous moments with equal parts strength and feistiness. Our family will forever cherish memories of her crafting masterpieces, paddling her tippy-canoe, and welcoming every creature and animal with a loving heart. Though we are saddened to see the world shifting without her guiding light, there is comfort in knowing her journey was met with dignity, love, and grace to all who walked alongside her. Her Spirit name came just in time. Naanooshkaasiinh-Kwe (Hummingbird woman). “The healer between Heartbeats”. They say, the hummingbird came from the breath between two worlds-too fast to be caught, too gentle to be feared. She appears where pain settles quietly, where the air holds memory. Her wings do not fight the wind--they weave through it, stitching together what was torn by time. The elders believe she carries the voices of those who left too soon. Not to speak for them, but to remind us: love never leaves it just changes shape. Her feathers shimmer with stories. Her flight is a prayer. She doesn't stay too long. Healing never does. But where she lands, something begins again... Her legacy of laughter, love, and unbridled passion remains and will carry us through our days to come. Miigwech for walking with us as she makes her journey to the spirit realm. May her quick wit echo in our stories, her vibrant spirit colour our memories, and her strength inspire us all. She will be dearly missed and never forgotten. Family and friends will be received at the Community & Youth Centre (Maawn Doosh Gumig), Aamjiwnaang First Nation, 1972 Virgil Avenue, Sarnia on Sunday, April 27, for visitation starting at 2:00pm. Funeral Service will follow at 3 pm. Interment at the Aamjiwnaang First Nations Cemetery.
