Obituary Announcement
MacMillan, Thomas
With a very broken heart, I am letting you know that I have lost the love of my life – Tom MacMillan of February 23, 2020. He left his home at Vision Nursing Home to go to his new home with the Lord. Tom married his beloved wife Jo-Anne on May 18th, 1979, and what great 41 years they were! Tom was the most loving, caring, wonderful husband. Tom was the loving father of Greg MacMillan of Sarnia, Judy Fex & her husband Sylvio of Edmonton, John MacMillan & his wife Karen of Fort Saskatchewan, and stepfather of Michael Ceresia & wife Claudine of Burlington, Rose-Ann Nathan-Barett and her husband Craig Barett of Brights Grove, Mary-Lynn Helman and her husband Dan of Texas USA. Cherished grandfather of Sara & Max Ceresia, Cassandra, Vanessa & Adam Dipasquale, Tanner & Corey Nathan, Ian, Conal, Janna & Braden MacMillan, Heather & Justin Fex, Taylor Charleton, Jeffery MacMillan, and Holly Clouson. Great Grandfather of Verity, Sebastian & Elijah Fex, Lucas & Addison VerHoeven, Gavin & Zayden Dipasquale-Rogers, Seth & Talia MacMillan, Kaitlyn & Lauren MacMillan. Tom also leaves behind many nieces and nephews. Tom will now join his loving mother Clyte and his father Captain Walter MacMillan, his sons Cameron (1997) and Glenn (1999), and his sister Jean King (Gordon), and his son-in-law Kevin Nathan. Tom was brought into the world on June 7th, 1926 at St. Joseph’s Hospital, Toronto, Ontario. Tom served in the Merchant Marine and in the Atlantic wartime zone and later in the Royal Canadian Air force, graduating as a Sergeant Air Gunner. Tom began his insurance business in Toronto and then coming to Sarnia, continued his career for over 50 years. He was the first Insurance Broker to get his Chartered Insurance Broker. As a Broker he was extremely successful, insuring many contractors in and around Sarnia. I would like to thank you to all his clients for their loyalty over the years. Tom has always belonged to service clubs and served as past President of Kiwanis and past President of Rotary Club of Sarnia, Bluewaterland, and was a member and honorary member for over 25 years. Tom always saw the value and beauty in everyone and only had kind words for all. He had a vibrant personality and was a voracious reader. Tom was the founder of the flag project and the bricks in honour of the First Responders and emergency teams. Family and I would like to thank all the nurses, P.S.W.’s and Dr. Boyle for all the excellent care they gave to Tom. He thought he lived in a hotel and was so grateful for everything they did for him. Cremation has taken place. Friends will be received at St. Giles Presbyterian Church, 770 Lakeshore Road, for Memorial Visitation on Saturday February 29 from 9:30 am to 11 am. A Memorial Service will follow at 11 am. Remembrances and condolences may be expressed to the family online in “Tom’s Guestbook” at mccormackfuneralhomesarnia.com. Donations to either St. Josephs Hospice or the charity of your choice would be appreciated. Arrangements entrusted to McCormack Funeral Home – Stewart Chapel, Sarnia.

I have nothing but fond memories of uncle Tom. He was one of a kind. He spent time with everyone and had unique relationships with everyone. He took the time to get to know everyone and made you feel like you were the only one with his attention at that time. He was a very warm man, he will be greatly missed. I am honored to have known him. Rest in peace Uncle Tom
