Obituary Announcement

COATE, Norman

Peacefully, on Saturday December 12, 2020, at Trillium Villa Nursing Home in Sarnia, in his 90th year. Norman was beloved husband of Betty for 68 years. Loving father of Nancy Freer (Brian Bernhardt) and Peter Coate (Helen). Cherished Grandfather of Dawn Picard (Bill), Scott Freer (Anne), Melissa Atyeo (Ron), David Coate (Cassandra), Lisa Coate (Joel), great Grandfather of Clayton, Will, Emily, Eric, Adrianna, Kyle, Ronnie, and Liv, and great-great Grandfather of Laila. He is survived by is brother Ivor, and his sisters Maureen and Phyllis. Predeceased by his son David, granddaughter Laura Coate, and several brothers and sisters. Norman retired as a carpenter from Polysar after 35 years, was actively involved in community sports, and a diehard Toronto Blue Jay fan. The family want to express their sincere appreciation to all the wonderful staff at Trillium Villa Nursing Home for their exceptional care over the years. Cremation has taken place, entombment of cremated remains at Lakeview Cemetery will take place at a later date. So sad to read of Norm's passing. A flood of childhood memories at the house on Woodland Ave., and the Ball Diamond. Norm was great with us kids, showed a lot of patience. Betty, Nancy, & Peter - ALL the wonderful memories you must have is something you can cherish forever!
