Obituary Announcement

White, Hilda “Hildie” Mary

In loving memory of Hilda (Hildie) Mary White, born to John (Jock) and Elizabeth (Betty) Hendrie on February 1, 1949 in Scotland Well.  She passed away on July 27th, 2020. Hildie is survived by her best friend and mother Betty. She was a loving mother to her daughters Shelly and Stacey White and son in law Dan Kirley.  She was adored by her grandchildren Alex White, Lindsay Kirley, and Charlotte Kirley.  She is pre-deceased by her father John (Jock) Hendrie and her brother John Hendrie. Anyone who knows Hildie would describe her as having a love of life and an incredible sense of humour.  She retired several years ago, from her job at the Sarnia Golf and Curling Club, where she planned many weddings, banquets, and golf events. Thank you to the caring and thoughtful staff at Bluewater Health who helped her to pass gracefully and with peace. An extra special thanks to Dr. Borek for his kindness, support, and good times shared over many years. An intimate ceremony will be held at a later date. In the words of her favourite musician, Neil Young, “There’s a full moon risin’, let’s go dancin’ in the light.”  You will be deeply missed and forever. Remembrances and condolences may be expressed to the family online in “Hilda’s Guestbook” at Any donations in lieu of flowers can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation. We would also like to thank Cameron at McCormack Funeral Home for being so flexible, professional, and thoughtful when dealing with Hilda's arrangements.

Hilda and I became friends through mutual respect and overwhelming love of family. Hilda and I worked at Sarnia Golf & Curling club together for 10 years. 10 wonderful years of pride of performance and fun doing it. We became friends when it was obvious that our families where the most important thing in our lives. Not a single day passed when we would have a coffee together and brag about our kids and grandkids. It was incredible how similar the famalies were. Little stories like the grandkids coming to here place before school in the morning. They would crawl in bed with her and say "We love you because you are so warm and soft." She became so very proud of her girls and rightfully so.. Donna and I share your grief because it is like a little fond piece of our life has been taken away. God better be on top if his game because "Hildi" will straighten him out if he is not.

My Deepest Condolences to The Family of Hilda! I have known Hilda from the First Day she started Working at the SGCC. Hilda assisted me any time I needed help and direction when organizing and working on Many different Club Events. She will be dearly missed!

I am so sad to hear of your Mom’s passing. I met her when your Grandma was in the hospital with my Mom a few years ago. We helped hold each other up and kept the laughs going. I bought Mickey Mouse jammies for the 2 old dolls and your mom and I would take them wheelchair racing. Just wanted to share a little and let you know that I cherished our hospital friendship and the fact that we kept in touch. Please give my condolences to Betty and know how much Hilda spoke of you often to me during that time. She was so proud of her kids and loved you guys and your babies. Take care of each other. Hilda’s light will be missed. Hugs, Kathie

Your mom was my boss for many years at the Sarnia Golf and Curling Club. I was the wedding photographer that she recommended. Your mom was wonderful lady. She always made me smile and feel happy. I ran into her a few times after moving away from Sarnia and it was always nice to see her. My heart goes out to all of you. ♥

I’m so sorry to read of Hilda’s death. I have fond memories working with her on the Canadian Cancer Society’s RazMaTaz Gala. Hilda was always so pleasant & incredibly easy to work with. I loved her. She was the key to making our galas a success. She greeted & treated all her customers as if they were very special each & every time we entered. Every year, Hilda was a special part of the equation. She treated us as if we were her special guests. I’m so sorry she’s gone. Rest In Peace Hilda. We love you! You will be missed by so many.

I didn't know Hilda was a fan of Neil Young, that warms my heart. I'll play a few for you. I worked with Hilda for a bit at the golf course and loved running into her after she was retired. She was always up for a hello and a chat. Rest in peace, Hilda. My condolences to her whole family, I wish you comfort and send love.
