Obituary
Madelyn Evelyn Stillar
Peacefully resting in the arms of our Lord Saviour…. Madelyn Evelyn Stillar passed away at home on Friday, March 6, 2026, at the age of 84 years. Madelyn was proud to be a Northern Ontario girl born at home on April 27, 1941, and raised in Kirkland Lake Ontario. She will be dearly missed by her surviving nieces Brenda (Danny) Trainor, Sarnia, Beverley Horodyski, Sarnia and Jaimie Lindsay, Nevada and nephews Ted Lindsay and Paul Lindsay, Idaho. Reunited in heaven with her dear family members; her beloved parents Evelyn Lynett Stillar (1978) and Gordon Stillar (1982) and her loving older sisters Kathleen (Kay) Lindsay (1965) and Marcella Horodyski (2019). Madelyn was a person of very strong faith and devotion, her life was guided by the light of faith and the promise of eternal life. She was a long-time parishioner at Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church in Sarnia, where her faith community was especially important to her. She was a passionate and loyal fan of the Toronto Blue Jays. Never missed a game, could quote stats and loved her two favourite players Ernie Clement #22 and Vladdy Jr. #27. When the Jays were playing a game, she wouldn’t even answer the phone, it was a family joke! She was crushed when they didn’t win the World Series in 2025. Madelyn was an animal lover her entire life, always cared for strays, fed every neighborhood dog, cat, bird, squirrel and chipmunk. Sometimes the front yard reminded you of Noah’s ark. A very sincere thanks to Ernie Golder and Tony Scarpelli for your friendship and support over the many years. Madelyn looked upon you both as extended family. Special thanks to the staff at the Maxwell St. Beer Store, especially to Brendan and Stephanie for your friendship and kindness over the years. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Fr. Brian Jane at Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church, 390 Christina St. Sarnia on Monday, March 16, 2026, at 10:00am with visitation one hour prior to Mass at 9:00am at the McCormack Aquamation Burial & Cremation Services, 254 George St. (at College Avenue) Sarnia. Interment will follow at Resurrection Cemetery. Remembrances and condolences may be expressed to the family online in “Madelyn’s Guestbook” at mccormackfuneralhomesarnia.com. As an expression of sympathy, friends who wish may send memorial donations to St. Vincent de Paul Society (Food Bank) 228 Davis Sarnia, N7T 1B3 or Sarnia District Humane Society 131 Exmouth St. Sarnia N7T 7W8.
