Greenfield, Larry
Larry Greenfield, born in Prince Edward County in 1943. Deceased Wednesday May 17, 2023, in his 80th year. Pre-deceased by first wife Lois (1991). Survived by wife of thirty years, Cheryl. Both of whom he loved dearly. Also survived by his three sons, Doug (Michiko), Dan (Tracey) and Dave (Beth), and his two stepchildren Chris (Jim) and Rob (Wendi). He had ten grand-children and one great-grand-daughter. Larry graduated from Forest Ranger School and proudly worked for Lands and Forest for one year before transitioning into a thirty-year long career at CIL, followed by a well-deserved retirement. In his retirement years, one of his many labours of love was growing tomatoes. They have been savoured by many and he has passed his prized seeds on to many friends and family to keep the strain alive in his absence. Larry was a kind and passionate man and showed his strength of character in facing life’s major adversities with grace and dignity. Larry enjoyed playing hockey, swimming, race walking, and making music. Sadly, a long battle with Parkinson’s and cancer gradually took his passions away from him. Yet despite his illness forcing him to slowly relinquish his many hobbies he remained stoic and brave in the face of each new challenge. The loss he mourned the most was playing the keyboard and singing. He spread much joy over the years with his instruments and his voice. Larry believed in nature and the natural progression of life. He said many times that he lived a good life and dying was part of it. He had difficulty expressing what was in his heart and people never knew how much he loved each and every one of his family and friends. The family are grateful for the exceptional care given to Larry by the staff at St. Joseph’s Hospice and the staff at Palliative Care at Bluewater Health. Your struggles are over.
