Chivers, Ernest Roy

August 27, 1945-February 19, 2021

The last rifle has been fired, the last cast has been reeled in, and the last hand of cards has been dealt. Ernest Roy Chivers returned to his eternal home, his devoted and loving wife Judy (nee: Gander) by his side, shy of their 53rd wedding anniversary. Loving father to Jeff, Mike, and his favourite daughter, Shellie Topping (Pete). Proud Papa Bear to 3 grandchildren, Cole, Tara (Hayden McLean) and Brandon.  Survived by his sister Midge Ripley (Lynnwood) and Rick (Diana) and several family and friends.  Predeceased by his parents Garfield and Marjorie Chivers, Bernice, John Sr., Sternie, Norm and his twin brother Wes. Son-in-law to James Gander (Grace) and Edythe Seeley (Don). Ernie will always be remembered by his contagious smile that lit the room. He was always full of laughter and pranks. He had a mischievous smile that kept you guessing on what was up his sleeve.  Ernie always had a candy in his pocket to share and willingness to help.  He was an avid hunter, fisherman, card player and loved camping. The family would like to thank the staff at Trillium Villa for the extensive and compassionate care they provided for Ernie over the last 2 years, especially in his final days. Family and friends will be received for visitation at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 1400 Murphy Road, Sarnia, on Monday, February 22 at 10 am. A Funeral Service will follow at 11 am. Interment at Resurrection Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made to the Alzheimer’s Society or charity of choice.
