Obituary Announcement

Rodger, Elizabeth “Betty”

In loving memory of Elizabeth (Betty) Rodger                                    (n. Hendrie/Hunter). She was born on February 21, 1929 in Perth, Scotland and passed away peacefully on November 27, 2020 at Trillium Nursing Home in Sarnia, ON. Betty was a truly loved women and was the kindest and most generous of people. Selfless, thoughtful, with an unparalleled Scottish hilarity. Gram was a role model to all of us, with her strength and enduring positive spirit. A beautiful, fun-loving, and insightful Scottish Lassie.  Always smiling and laughing.  Her advocacy for special needs children was seen in her career choice as a speech therapist. Betty treasured her family, her friends, and her beloved Scotland. She leaves a legacy of strength, compassion and loyalty. She loved and let us love her for many decades, as a wife, mother, and grandmother.  She was predeceased by her parents William and Mary Hunter and was the beloved wife of the late John (Jock) Hendrie and the late Angus Rodger. Beloved mother of Hilda White and John Hendrie. Betty is the adored grandma of Shelly White, Stacey White and Dan Kirley, and well as Roger and Amy Hendrie and Brad Hendrie. Loving sister to Bill, Nell (late), and Mary (late) Hunter. Great-grandmother to Alex White, Lindsay and Charlotte Kirley, Devin, Payton, Hunter and Hailey Hendrie.  Aunt to Lisa Sinclair (Hunter) and Steven Hunter. In the words of the Scottish poet Robbie Burns, “For auld lang syne, my jo, for auld lang syne, we’ll tak a cup o’ kindness yet, for auld lang syne.“ May those who knew you remember and honour the times gone by. You will never be forgotten and will always be loved. Thank you to the compassionate staff at Trillium who cared for her with love. Thank you to Cam McCormack at McCormack Funeral Home. An intimate ceremony will be held at a later date. Remembrances and condolences may be expressed to the family online in “Betty’s Guestbook” at mccormackfuneralhomesarnia.com.
